Rose Electronics RackView UltraConsole 1U Rackmount LCD Drawer Product Developmentby 42U Rose Electronics has recently merged two appealing products into one ideal KVM solution to help manage complicated rack mount installations. The Rose 1U RackView LCD/KVM drawer offers users the ability to reclaim precious rack units by allowing true multi-platform control to an entire server rack. Rose RackView 1U LCD Drawer Features & Benefits The RackView is a rack mountable KVM station neatly fitted in a 1U or 2U compact pull-out drawer. The Rose RackView mounted with the UltraConsole KVM switch offers the most up-to-date approach to manage data centers with multiple computers and network accessories. The 1U RackView KVM drawer easily mounts anywhere within a standard 19" wide cabinet which maximizes limited space and increases comfort for administrators. The Driving force behind Rose's RackView is the UltraConsole KVM switch The new UltraConsole multi-platform, single user KVM switch from Rose Electronics has simplified KVM management for data center operators by providing KVM connectivity for a wider range of platforms. Most current KVM switch products will support multi-platform devices such as PS, Sun, UNIX, and MAC computers; however, headless devices such as network equipment and servers are forced to a separate serial console switch which ultimately leaves yet another appliance to manage. The affordable Rose UltraConsole KVM sets itself apart from standard KVM switch products by allowing Serial and Multi-platform devices to blend together within the same KVM solution. The entire assortment of connected devices will be controlled by a single user console which can consist of Sun, PS2, VT100, or Mac. UltraConsole Serial KVM Support Bulky adapters, which often add a point of failure, will not be needed with the UltraConsole if users require switching capabilities with serial equipment. A simple Rose UltraCable is all that's required in order to communicate with serial devices attached to the KVM switch. Serial access through the UltraConsole provides serial support to routers, Ethernet hubs, UNIX devices and more. The UltraConsole also performs VT100/VT220 terminal emulation and provides up to an eight-page scroll buffer. The UltraConsole KVM is available in three distinct models The Rose UltraConsole KVM switch can easily handle a mixed platform environment and allows IT administrators to securely manage multiple PC/Sun/Mac/Unix/Serial servers. The UltraConsole is available in 3 versions: - 4-port
- 8-port
- 16-port (2U Form Factor)
Port expansion allows UltraConsole KVM units to easily daisy-chain together with bussing cables to make for a seamless KVM switch solution. Rose RackView System Components The Rose RackView LCD Drawer portion minus the UltraConsole KVM switch consists of a single Keyboard, Mouse, and Video Monitor. Here is a detailed break-down of each quality RackView component. LCD Monitor - The easy-glide RackView KVM drawer contains a static free high-resolution TFT/LCD monitor which provides crisp, clear images at resolutions up to 1280 x 1024 @ 75Hz (17" version). The RackView LCD Monitor incorporates a standard OSD which allows for fine-tuning monitor attributes such as color, contrast, brightness, shape, and position of the display. Color LCD monitor dimensions are featured in 15", 17", or 19" form factors. Additional media connections supplied with the 19" LCD model include PIP and 3 video inputs: HD15, RCA, and S-Video. RackView LCD supported video formats includes SVGA, VGA, XGA, and RGB. Keyboard - A full-sized PS2 or USB keyboard includes a separate numeric keypad allowing extensive user control. Mouse - An integrated high-resolution trackball or touchpad mouse is available for both PS2 and USB platforms. Housing - The 1U RackView chassis organizes and streamlines busy server rooms by rack mounting the KVM station into a neatly fitted 1U compact pull-out drawer. Two convenient thumb-screws fasten the front panel to the chassis which conceals the unit when not in use. The 4-post mounting system creates a solid platform for the attaching the RackView LCD drawer to most standard 19" server cabinets. Rose products are designed and engineered for dependability The RackView/UltraConsole combination features a centralized KVM station connected to four, eight, or sixteen computers per chassis. The UltraConsole in itself can expand to as many as 1,000 devices mixed between computers or serial machines. The flash-upgradeable KVM on-screen menu system makes configuring ports, naming computers, monitoring systems, and installation easy with on-screen instructions. The simple and secure OSD menus will ensure that the Rose RackView LCD KVM drawer will streamline your data center and provide a central access point for total system control.
