Rack PDU Solutions / Server Rack PDU
/ Data Center Rack PDU
Once a commodity product, modern
rack PDUs are invaluable to data center operation.
As data centers have become more dynamic and
complex, this power technology has followed suit.
Modern PDUs can include LED current meters, web
interfaces, and "switching" capabilities-allowing
users to reboot connected servers or to turn off
individual outlets. And, as the industry has become
increasingly energy conscious, these products can
play an integral role in any data center efficiency
program.
42U has established relationships
with the preeminent power manufacturers in the
industry, supporting the entire product landscape.
PDU Types:
-
Basic Rack PDU: As the name
implies, basic rack PDUs supply power to IT
equipment and usually nothing more.
-
Metered Rack PDU: Metered PDUs are equipped
with a local amp meter on the strip, allowing IT
personnel properly load and balance each
circuit.
-
Monitored Rack PDU: Monitored PDUs provide
remote monitoring of current and other critical
measurements.
-
Switched Rack PDU: Switched PDUs promote
remote reboot capabilities, web monitoring, and
SNMP alerting.
-
Outlet Level Rack PDU: The most
sophisticated of rack power products, outlet
level PDUs allow users to drill down to power
consumption of individual outlets.
As the units become more
intelligent, they incorporate the features of
preceding designs. Switched units, for instance,
incorporate local amp meters and remote current
monitoring. Some Outlet Monitoring PDUs include
switching capabilities; all include local amp
meters.
Intelligent Software
Intelligent PDUs (including
monitored, switched, and outlet monitoring versions)
are sold with proprietary software products that
provide detailed visibility into the power
distribution architecture. Monitoring, trending,
reporting, and even billing are facilitated through
this software interface.
