SynapSoft Software from SynapSense
SynapSoft 5.3 builds on the value and robustness of its predecessors and now enables SynapSense Active Control, SynapSense' energy saving solution. Data center managers utilize this to assess current operating conditions, identify opportunities and quantify efficiency improvements. SynapSense Active Control then saves up to 35% of cooling energy by continuously aligning cooling capacity to IT load. SynapSoft 5.3 provides real-time PUE and air mixing metrics to continuously measure energy efficiency improvements. LiveImaging maps and movies depict actual changes in thermals, plenum pressure and relative humidity. The enhanced monitoring and powerful data analysis capabilities provided in SynapSoft 5.3 enable data center operators to continuously optimize power and cooling, with an incomparable ability to measure and track the impact of improvements.
The LiveImaging feature in SynapSense's SynapSoft software provides thermal, pressure differential, and humidity mapping using 3D real-time data at multiple levels of your data center enabling you to literally see hot spots and direct airflow to avoid over-heating or air mixing. LiveImaging pressure mapping enabled one customer to dramatically increase sub-plenum pressure differential by 60%, thereby improving airflow to such an extent, they were able to turn off a CRAC unit.

Global real-time views of your data centerThe SynapSoft 5.3 Solution includes more than a dozen configurable Global Views that help you ‘see’ your data center; everything from a high-level overview, to customized zone views, down to detailed views of the temperature efficiency of a single rack, historicals of CRACs, and much more.
- Data Center View: Gives an overview of the entire data center with zone icons, which are colored red, green or yellow to depict alert status within each of the zones – includes Zone View drill-down options.
- Zone View: Gives at-a-glance, vital, environmental statistics including temperature, humidity and pressure. It can also isolate a desired physical parameter and acts as a landing page from which a user can drill down to view detailed temperature and humidity historical data of CRACs and racks.
- Zone Node View: Allows sorting by data type. This provides a snapshot of data such as high and low temperatures or extreme humidity.
- CRAC View: Provides a seven-day historical graph of CRAC relative humidity, supply and return temperatures and CRAC efficiency.
- Rack View: Provides temperatures for both the hot and cold aisle sides of the rack, relative humidity and quantifies the CSI (cold supply infiltration), which is a measure of cold air loss through mixing.
- Row Environmentals: Any number of sensors can be graphed through the “Data Analysis” functionality. SynapSoft 5.3 enables a group of sensors to be named and saved for future reporting with a single click. This allows you to quickly create a preferred view with your most recent data or use historical data to view past trends.
