When an enterprise co-locates equipment with a third-party data center, it often combines servers & network gear in the same cabinet to conserve rack space and overall co-location expense. This requires an innovative approach for power distribution and remote management. The ability to mix and manage power circuits among various equipment becomes necessary.

In a data center cabinet with a combination of servers and network gear, using a PT46 & IPMs in tandem with a PTXL is common application. The Sentry PT46 solves this requirement by supporting up to eight distributed Inline Power Modules (IPMs), and integrating the remote management of each IPM within a complimentary PTXL’s interface.

The PTXL is designed for servers, where high density and a single 20-amp or 30-amp power feed is sufficient; the PT46 and its connected IPMs are ideally suited for routers, switches and networking gear with greater power requirements – up to 20 or 30-Amps per power feed. Additionally, the IPMs support equipment that:

1. Is located outside the cabinet (of the PTXL).

2. Have different voltage requirements (110VAC & 208VAC).

3. Require more than one power feed.

The PT46 connects to the PTXL via a single link cable. Each of the IPMs can be controlled individually or logically grouped with other IPMs or outlets on the PTXL. Each of the IPMs can be used to power on, power off or reboot the connected device. 110 VAC, 230 VAC and -48VDC IPMs can be controlled through one PT46.

Sentry Commander PT46 Remote Outlet Grouping & Control: Assign outlets to a group for control of dual-power supply servers and other gear with a single command. Create an unlimited number of groups with any combination of outlets associated to each group. 

Sentry Commander PT46 Rack-Mount Enclosure: 1U and 2U "horizontal" rack-mount enclosures are 17" wide and include standard mounting brackets for 19" cabinet rails. 23" brackets also available.

Sentry Commander PT46 24-Character Outlet Receptacles Names:  Use the firmware interface (Web or serial) to edit individual outlet receptacles. Identify each receptacle with the device's serial number, IP address, asset allocation #, department or any other method to individually name outlets.

Sentry Commander PT46 20-Amp Power Input Support:  20-amp Power Input Support. IEC320/C20 power inlet receptacles supports any power cord with IEC320/C19 power connector (PTCORD-XX).

Sentry Commander PT46 30-Amp Power Input Support: 30-amp Power Input Support. Hard-wired with 10' cord and appropriate L5-30 or L6-30 plug type.

Sentry Commander PT46 Firmware Flash Upgradeable: Access new firmware updates via FTP for new firmware features and code releases. An update to the firmware does not affect the status of the power outlets.

Sentry Commander PT46 Remote Individual Outlet Control: Reduce Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) of a failing server by controlling individual power outlet receptacles to reboot any selected server or other device.

Sentry Commander PT46 Always-On Outlets: Outlets are powered-on in their default state. User action is required to perform a power-off or reboot to change the status of each power outlet receptacle's relay.
