Sentry 4805-XLS-16
The Sentry 4805 XLS Remote Power Manager minimizes the
impact of locked-up routers, servers and other network
devices on business-critical networks. CLECs, ILECs
and ISPs and corporations use the Sentry 4805 to manage
-48 VDC power control to equipment cabinets in remote
sites, co-location facilities and network operations
centers.
The 4805 XLS eliminates the need to
have a field service technician go out for manual intervention
when devices lock-up. Using a Sentry 4805 for -48 VDC
power control, the network operations center can quickly
restart locked-up remote network servers to ensure that
the network is fully operational around the clock.
This unit supports data communications
equipment such as workgroup and email servers as well
as combines intelligent power distribution and remote
power control into a single 2U 19" rack mount enclosure.
The two 100-Amp power input feeds support
dual power supply networking equipment units. Sixteen
(16) individual 10-amp power outlets are each protected
by a GMT fuse of 1/2-amp to 10-amps. It features a 10/100
Base T Ethernet interface and supports full HTML configuration
& control; HTTPS, SSL, SSH, telnet and SNMP management.
Another feature to the 4805 is the ability
to measure the ambient temperature and humidity in an
equipment cabinet. Two temperature & humidity probes
can be added to the RJ-style ports integrated into the
enclosure. Firmware support for environmental monitoring
is supported through auto-discovery.
Additionally, the 4805-XLS verifies
the voltage at each power inlet/outlet connection and
monitors the load (in amps) that each device is drawing.

Web Browser: Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is a commonly-used
protocol for managing the security of a message transmission
on the Internet. SSL is an integral part of most Web
browsers (clients) and Web servers. Sentry supports
SSLv3/TLSv1.
ServerTech Sentry 4805-XLS-16 SSH
management: Secure Shell (SSH), sometimes known
as Secure Socket Shell, is a Unix-based command interface
and protocol for securely getting access to a remote
device. Sentry supports SSHv2.
ServerTech Sentry 4805-XLS-16 SNMP
Management: The Sentry family of products supports
the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). This
allows network management systems to use SNMP requests
to retrieve information and control power for the individual
outlets. The Sentry includes an SNMP v1 agent supporting
standard MIB I and MIB II objects. A private enterprise
MIB extension (Sentry3 MIB) is also supported to provide
remote power control.

Traps for Event Notification: SNMP traps can be
generated for various events, including Input Current
Load Thresholds (min & max), Temperature Thresholds
(min & max), Humidity Thresholds (min & max), water
indication, closed contacts (cabinet doors open/close),
as well as notification of any time an outlet status
is changed (on/off).
ServerTech Sentry 4805-XLS-16 LDAP:
LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) is a software
protocol for enabling anyone to locate organizations,
individuals, and other resources such as files and devices
in a network, whether on the public Internet or on a
corporate intranet.
Sentry firmware code 5.3b and newer
includes support for LDAP v3 and is configurable to
operate with any Directory Service. It has been tested
with these Directory Services:

Enclosure: 1U and 2U "horizontal" rack-mount enclosures
are 17" wide and include standard mounting brackets
for 19" cabinet rails. 23" brackets also available.

administrators & user accounts. Multiple user accounts
can be established with access rights only to designated
outlets.

Control: Serial control via any device with a bi-directional
serial port, including a PC, laptop, KVM switch, Console
Port Access switch, or terminal server.

Management: Telnet is a user command and an underlying
TCP/IP protocol for accessing remote computers.
ServerTech Sentry 4805-XLS-16 Optional
Secure Global Modem: An optional field-replaceable
global secure modem that supports 56Kbps operation,
Call-Back Security, and remote configuration. It is
approved for use in 48 countries. Additionally, the
internal modem option and Pass-Thru Port Access can
eliminate multiple modems and dial-up lines and the
need for an expensive terminal server. (Available in
Sentry "horizontal" rack-mount models.)

Concurrent Users: Multiple concurrent users allows
several users to be logged into a Sentry at the same
time. In this way, different users, with access rights
to only their equipment, can reboot their device(s)
when they need to, without waiting for another user
to log out of the Sentry unit.

Outlet Receptacles Names: Use the firmware interface
(Web or serial) to edit individual outlet receptacles.
Identify each receptacle with the device's serial number,
ip address, asset allocation #, department or any other
method to individually name outlets.

Flash Upgradeable: Access new firmware updates via
FTP for new firmware features and code releases. An
update to the firmware does not affect the status of
the power outlets.

Individual Outlet control: Reduce Mean Time to Repair
(MTTR) of a failing server by controlling individual
power outlet receptacles to reboot any selected server
or other device.

Outlets: Outlets are powered-on in their default
state. User action is required to perform a power-off
or reboot to change the status of each power outlet
receptacle's relay.
