The Raritan Paragon II P2-UMT242 2-User by 42-Port analog KVM switch system transmits high-resolution video, keyboard and mouse over end-to-end Cat5 cabling. Multi-user access and control to any computer in your data center is possible up to 1000ft away using the UTP driven cabling architecture. The Paragon II Cat5 based KVM switch solution as a whole includes the PII-UMT matrix KVM switch, multiple P2-CIM Computer Interface Modules, and multi-platform functioning analog or KVM over IP driven P2-UST User Stations. The UTP enabled connectivity and analog KVM switching technology will allow multi-user access and full Keyboard, Video, and Mouse connectivity to any variety of computer platforms in your data center – PS2, USB, SUN or Serial. The scalable approach with implementing the Raritan Paragon KVM switch matrix solution permits users to add computers or devices with ease as data centers evolve with time.

Raritan Paragon UMT242 offers the ability to control dozens to thousands of servers / CPU's.  The Raritan Paragon UMT242 can have either local administrators (up to 1,000' away over CAT5 cabling) or in combination with the Raritan IP-Reach, authorized users can securely access and control your servers over IP from anywhere in the world.

Raritan Paragon UMT242 represents a major advancement in KVM switch reliability and performance. Raritan Paragon is a modular, scalable KVM switching system that uses a single Enhanced Category 5 UTP cable for computer and user connectivity. With Paragon up to eight simultaneous users, each with a keyboard, monitor, and mouse, can access and control 32 computers, expandable to 2,048 computers.

Raritan Paragon UMT242 introduces a host of KVM switch innovations including Raritan’s unique Cat5 cable transmission technology with plug and play, auto configuring installation and hot-swappable components. Keep-alive keyboard/mouse emulation and a failsafe KVM access port for each connected computer ensure maximum system availability. Raritan Paragon’s on screen user interface with flexible security options provide seamless control of multiple computer platforms-PC (PS2, AT), Mac, Sun, Alpha, RS/6000, HP9000, SGI, USB, ASCII devices. Raritan Paragon brings new level of convenience, reliability, and control to data center management.    

Raritan Paragon Computer Interface Modules (CIMs)

A Paragon system consists of three components: Matrix Switching Unit(s), Computer Interface Module(s) and User Station(s). The Matrix Switching Unit (UMT8) is an intelligent, non-blocking control center that connects users to selected computers. It includes RJ45 jacks for connecting up to 8 User Stations and 32 Computer Interface Modules. Each computer is connected with a single CAT5E UTP cable via a Computer Interface Module (UKVM) that provides dedicated, keep-alive keyboard/mouse emulation for that computer. The UKVM also has keyboard, monitor, and mouse ports to be used as a second access point or a fail-safe port to each computer in case of power loss. Authorized users access computers with a console (keyboard, monitor, mouse) plugged into a User Station (UST1), which is also connected to the Matrix Switching Unit with a single Cat5E cable. Raritan Paragon’s advanced on-screen user interface simplifies both user operation and system management. You can assign meaningful names to connected computers, customize user profiles, and assign user/computer access rights. This system configuration database is stored in the Matrix Switching Unit, which auto-configures all Computer Interface Modules and User Stations. Each user’s on-screen menu shows which computers are available to that user for selection. When selected, the computers name and channel ID are displayed for positive identification. For convenience and backup, the system configuration database may be maintained off-line with PC Windows program for uploading to the Matrix Switching Unit.
