42U Product Update: Avocent Offers New Digital Video
Interface Workstation Extender
Broomfield, CO—October 18,
2006: 42U, the nation’s largest independent

Avocent will soon offer the Emerge
ECMS2000U, a
new Digital Video Interface Workstation Extender
that provides hardware-based extension for
digital/analog video, USB keyboard and mouse, USB
media, and audio signals.
The
Emerge ECMS2000U
was created with broadcast and
post-production environments in mind and enables
user extension through existing Gigabit switching
infrastructure using IP protocols. This
point-to-point configuration over a UTP cable at
Gigabit Ethernet rates allows the ECMS2000U to
provide high resolution video and color depth, as
well as CD quality audio; thus making it possible to
“back-rack” broadcast quality servers without
impacting post-production operations.
The ECMS2000U also reduces noise in edit suites and
control rooms and its virtual media functionality
provides a cost-effective alternative to
USB 2.0
extension products, while maintaining the file
transfer capabilities of USB 2.0 extension. Other
features of the Emerge ECMS2000U include advanced
real-time compression and encryption of network data
at 128-bit AES encryption. The Emerge
