Avocent Adds MergePoint 5224 and
5240 To Service Processor Manager Family
Broomfield, CO - March 27, 2007:
42U, the nation's
largest independent value-added reseller (VAR) of
datacenter and server management solutions,
announces that
Avocent Corporation (Nasdaq: AVCT) has expanded its
MergePoint 5200 family of service processor managers
to include two new devices, the 24-port MergePoint
5224 and the 40-port MergePoint 5240.
Through Avocent's
DSView 3 software, the MergePoint devices
provide service processor aggregation, power
control, hardware monitoring, scripting, and
provisioning for devices with integrated onboard
technologies (microcontrollers embedded in a
motherboard of a server, a PCI card, or on the
chassis of a server).
In addition to consolidating access to devices with
IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface)
1.5/2.0, iLO (HP), and DRAC (Dell), which are
supported by the MergePoint 5200, the MergePoint
5224 and 5240 appliances also provide access to
devices with embedded RSA II (IBM) and ALOM (Sun)
technologies. Other new features of the MergePoint
5224 and 5240 include improved port consolidation
(only one external IP address and Ethernet port are
needed for all connected devices), and the
DirectCommand feature that provides administrators
with secure and transparent access to service
processors'native interfaces.
All MergePoint devices integrate with Avocent's
DSView 3 software, which provides centralized
management and integrated access to computer
systems, servers, serial-based devices,
environmental monitoring devices, and
power
distribution products.
