42U DirectNET Engineers Explore the Challenges of Remote Data Center
Management
March 21, 2006 – Atlanta, GA. 42U
DirectNET is presenting an
educational session regarding remote data center management at the
AFCOM World Data Center Conference, being held in Atlanta, GA. Cliff
Unger and Patrick Cameron, sales engineers with
42U, outlined the challenges in accessing and managing remote
assets and the technologies available to overcome those issues.
The presentation, titled “Managing the Operations of the Remote
Data Center,” is one of many
educational sessions scheduled during the conference, running
Sunday, March 19, through Thursday, March 23, at the Georgia World
Congress Center in Atlanta.
As data centers evolve, IT professionals are faced with numerous
challenges, including headcount reduction, remote site management,
managing heterogeneous environments and increased service level
expectations. This educational session focuses on future
technologies in server management,
intelligent power control and
environmental monitoring.
Attendees will be able to review case studies and practical
applications of leading-edge technologies, such as
remote console-based access,
out-of-band power control, and
real-time monitoring of
environmental, intrusion, and power conditions.
“On a daily basis, our clients share their challenges with us and
the many options that they have in tackling those challenges. The
solutions that we are discussing in this session are leading-edge
technologies that provide data
center managers and system administrators the tools they need to
do their jobs,” stated Patrick Cameron. “We work with these folks
everyday to provide the eyes and ears that they need in those remote
locations.”
Cliff Unger adds “We plan on participating in additional speaking
engagements around the country to provide the information and
education that data center managers need to make informed decisions.
This is where we can truly add value to our clients and their
employees.”
