The Avocent LongView IP Digital Extender eliminates distance limitations. It
delivers high-quality video and audio by providing remote access to your servers
from anywhere on an existing LAN. The Avocent IP digital extender lets you
easily move your desktop devices, including your keyboard, video and mouse,
speakers and microphone, away from your computer. You have remote access to all
of your computer’s peripherals from anywhere on the corporate TCP/IP LAN, or
point-to-point over a single UTP cable.
The LongView IP KVM extender consists of:
• A transmitter to connect externally to the remote
workstation
• A receiver located at the user’s desk
Avocent LVIP-001 Features & Benefits
Automatic connection-- When the receiver is turned
on, a connection is automatically established with the remote workstation
via the transmitter.
Ethernet addressing-- The receiver and transmitter
are IP-addressable devices that locate workstations anywhere within the
network and at any distance from desktop users.
Multiplatform support-- The transmitter is connected
to the remote workstation via USB connectors. This enables the LongView IP
KVM extender to work seamlessly with PC, Sun and Macintosh workstations.
Security-- Supports Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) over a
TCP/IP connection. All data transmitted between the receiver and the transmitter is encrypted.
Password protection is also provided to control access to all administration
functions.

incorporates a serial menu that allows you to perform administration and
maintenance tasks for both the receiver and the transmitter.
Flash upgradeable-- Upgrade your firmware at any time
using the XMODEM or HTTP protocols
Support for keyboards and mice-- USB and PS/2
keyboards and mice are fully supported
USB support-- compatible with the USB 2.0 standard.

access USB keyboards, mice and USB hubs. Hotplugging of USB devices is
supported. (NOTE: A hub cannot be used to expand the number of USB
ports available.)
Audio-- Supports CD-quality stereo from the remote
workstation to peripheral speakers, and mono-quality audio from a microphone
