Cooling High kW Loads at the Rack Level
Before the introduction of high density application,
data centers could rely on room-based technologies,
such at CRAC units, to accomplish their cooling
needs, given the average power density in the data
center was only 1-2 kW per rack.
These days, with the advent of blade servers, and
other high density solutions, the power densities
of modern IT equipment are pushing peak power density
to 30 kW per rack, or more.
Using either air or water, rack-level cooling technologies
provide the flexible, standardized and scalable
solution required for today’s high kW loads.
